SubVersion Stop 299: For Electronic Subverts Series 018 September 2025
For The Electronic Subverts 018
September 2025
This archive project, not just renewing my The Wire Magazine membership, is to collect projections of music I like, easily sorted into one blog for subversion recommendations, that subverts might enjoy. It is also influenced by a Subvert called Spectraz, who made an archive thread for www.bandcamp.com dnb [drum n bass] recommendations. Check it out..

Sourced from The Wire Magazine. Ruminations more pleasured than pantomime. Where's the wah wah guitar? It's there, and there seems to be more. Electronic approval, unwravelling like a graphite Chinese dragon. It is music that lyrically sees multiple gaps in the stage. The instruments contort. The colours shade and fade. A kaleidoscope on stage. Similar vocal harmonics to Eric Chenaux, fed a diet of Dinosaur Jnr. Wickedness of the wisp.

Infinite Sloth on Subvert Central made a quality thread called 'Looking For Slow, Drone Like Compositions'. Check out the Pinecone Moonshine label for quality dnb. As for the ambience dark and light, this quality producer Orla Wren - who I got to watch doing a live set in St John The Evangelist Church in Bristol, as a booking for the Fluid Radio - [www.fluid-radio.co.uk] night series - mixes the dark with the light, in a DJ Shadow style but for the ambient and drone genres, collecting continuum crust to where subversive dnb ambience broke through the millenium: atmospheric dnb to techstep dnb synthesis.

Danny Esb introduced me to lots of superb records like this - Ricardo Villalobos, Robert Hood - with the Esb mixes, mixing a musical dissection if background. Drafting in a line connecting technology, where beyond just speech as silence, is an expression of nous in the present moment, where the past clings into itself, the readings if drive liberalism, while the vibe, and it's direction, seems to be so well known by the listener that the watchline actually becomes how little I should listen, not how listening gives much. Atemporal indeed, and an absolutely fantastic work of art.
Have a fantastic week.
