SubVersion Stop 274: This Fortnight

This fortnight Sunday 23rd February 2025 SubVersion Stop 274 This Fortnight 'Muttley 'Silence Is Golden II 'Locrian Blends', a 50 minute musique concrete follow up to 2011-2013 sound collage, is now complete. For the previous 6 months I have focused on the sounds of the cabaret clubs underground. [...] Sonic 'The Range' is my track of the fortnight, it's been uploaded to Bandcamp after a 2016 remaster; heard from Fabio on dubplate in 2003-2004 alternating weekly with Grooverider and their 12am-2am Radio 1 slots around the time of the vinyl release...a sepian infinity confounding sense of time. [...] Jordan GCZ 'Hope Isn't A Four Letter Word' is my LP of the week; of the previous week [...] Recommendation of the week 'Egret Flight' by Hakobune on www.bandcamp; a guitar drone trascending memories of the shopping mall [...] 'The Lorenzo Masotto 'Earde' Vinyl full preview is massively impressive too; who thought C Major could be emotional in this freshened piano music? [...] Deepchord have a wicked new dubbed techno record 3LP out on Boomkat.com promo on Echospace label. [...] Subvert Central recommended '2x1=4' by F.S Bluum & Nils Frahm; a quality revariance of their quality 'Music For Lovers Music Versus Time'. [...] Lyrics of the week: 'I just don't care about the framings, because people always ruin paintings', from The Manic Street Preachers and their 'Critical Thinking' LP on Sony Music and Columbia labels [the picture disc is histrionically well put as visual]. [...] This week's 2 Track Mixes [1] 'One Man Militia' by The Manics, with the post punk one note baseline style with technoey dnb and 'Anarchid' by Quadrant. [2] 'Second Sight' by ASC from dnb Soothsayer Recordings, dubbed into 'Serpent And Rose' by Atomic Skunk and his 'Alchemy' LP. [3] 'Disco Dodo' by Lynx from Fabio's Creative Source label, mixed into 'Playtime' by Roni Size. [4] 'Subliminal Aura' by Q Project on Liquid V Recordings, mixed into 'Spacejam' by Logistics, released on Hospital Records in 2006. [5] 'Dont You Worry Child' by Swedish House Mafia & John Martin, mixed into 'Extreme Ways' by Moby, from the '18' LP: 'too much could make me blind'. [6] Hyper On Experience 'Disturbance [Tango Remix] mixed with 'The Ninth Hand' by Breakage. [...] Enjoy your week! MuttleySV

() Throughout the week, mixes of interplaying vocals. 'If he loved you, like I love you, I would walk away in shame, I would consider myself to change my names', mixed with 'one of these morning's, won't be there alone - you were there for me, I'd be gone'. But what for? A mishearing perhaps? Like this mishearing of another piece of lifeline music by Angel Olsen, which epitomised by fortnight: 'I laughed so hard inside myself it all began to hurt '. But there is hope. Angel Olsen's newest LP will be one of my fave records of 2025, (...) and my LP of this week is...Sharon Van Etten - Sharon Van Etten And The Attachment Theory. Music that sounds like it hurts to make it, however never sinks beneath quality, and never into parody. Music is always a lifeline for me. Whoever you are, I hope you have a fantastic week! MuttleySV
